Step 2 - Spell Sounds (Sonday Systems 1 & 2 and Secondary 1)

Conducting Step 2 - Spell Sounds

  1. Click the forward arrow in the title page of the Slide Controller.

  2. This displays the Writing Prompt slide, cueing students that it’s time to write.

  3. Dictate the sounds listed in the instructions (saying the sounds, not the letter names).

     Tip

    To keep a record of all responses, have students use the Student Notebooks. Students learning remotely can submit their completed pages by scanning or taking a picture and sending via email.

     Note

    As new cards are introduced in Step 5, they will automatically populate into the dictation list in Step 2 in subsequent sessions at the same level.

  4. When all sounds have been dictated or the time limit for this step is up, click Next Step to progress to Step 3 - Read Words.
    • In SS1 and SS2, the Next Step button is to the left of the Slide Controller.
    • In Secondary 1, the Next Step button is above the Slide Controller to the right.
