WinVocab contains a preset list of 180 age-appropriate vocabulary words for each grade level, K–5. The words are randomized and do not need to be taught in the order they are listed. You can select a word to teach for each day of the school year.
The Word Lists detail all 180 words for each grade level and link to more information about each word, including any history of when the word was taught.
To view the Word List for each grade level:
- Log in to Sonday System and click WinVocab in the Products panel of your Teaching Dashboard.
- Open the drop-down menu by your name in the upper right corner of the screen and select Word Lists.
- Select the desired grade level tab along the top to view its corresponding Word List.
-
The words are listed in the left-most Vocabulary Words column, followed by a column on the right for each class you teach in the selected grade level. (If you don't have any classes for that grade level, there will be one empty column following the Vocabulary Words column.)
This particular teacher has two Kindergarten WinVocab classes, Afternoon and Morning.
- To jump straight to a particular word in the grade level of the tab you are on, or to see if a particular word is part of the curriculum for that grade, type the word in the Search box and click Go.
- Click a link in the Vocabulary Word column to open the Word Detail page, which defines the word and lists when it was taught, if applicable. You can also teach the word again from this page.
- The class columns indicate if you've taught the word already to each class.
- If you haven't yet taught the word in a particular class, there is a circle with a green plus sign (+) by that word. Click the + to go to the Lesson Detail page for that word and preview or prepare the lesson.
- If you've already taught the word in that class, the time and date stamp displays from when you downloaded the Teacher PDF from the Lesson Detail page. The activity you used to teach the word also displays.
Tip
To teach words from a different grade level than the one your class is assigned to, change the class's grade level to match the grade level associated with the word; after your teaching session, edit the class again to revert to its original grade level. (See Editing a class in Imagine Sonday System Digital for detailed instructions on changing the grade.)
Alternately, you can simply re-create a word from a different grade level as a custom word for your current grade level.
