Preparing a lesson in WinVocab is simple and quick. A word and corresponding activity are presented for you each day, but you can select a new word and/or a different activity type if you'd like.
To configure a lesson in WinVocab:
- Log in to the Sonday System digital platform.
- In the Product section of the Teaching Dashboard, select WinVocab.
- Click Select in the tile of the class you want to teach.
This opens the Lesson Detail page, which automatically displays the next word in the randomized list of untaught words for that grade level. It also recommends an activity. -
You may continue with the current word, or click on any of the words in the Untaught Words list to switch the lesson to that word.
Tip
You also have the option to click Word List in the top right corner and create your own custom word.
- To change the type of student activity, go to the Recommended Lesson panel and click the Click to change this activity link.
-
Select your desired activity from the drop-down menu that opens, and then click Submit. This populates a downloadable Student PDF and Teacher PDF with instructions for the chosen activity using the selected word.
Note
The activities that appear in the drop-down menu are made available based on grade level and whether or not there are synonyms and/or antonyms for the selected vocabulary word.
-
Click Download Student PDF or Download Teacher PDF to preview, print, or display the student or teacher instructions for the selected activity.
Note
Downloading the Teacher PDF marks the word as taught. The relevant session details will then appear in the WinVocab Class Detail page.
