Follow Along is one option for displaying student content for remote viewing. It's a way to send student content to other devices by means of a shared login: students scan a class-specific QR code or enter a class-specific alpha-numeric Follow Code to gain access to the student-facing content.
In addition to using this display method with your students, you can also use it yourself (as a teacher) to display the slides from the Slide Controller on a separate device with internet connection (such as a smart screen).
Using Follow Along with students
To use Follow Along with your students:
- First, ensure that the following prerequisite steps are completed:
- The students have profiles set up in Imagine Sonday System Digital.

The students are assigned to a class, and the class's Roster Type is Students.
Note
Follow Along only works for students if the class's roster type is set to Students. However, you can use Follow Along as a teacher to display slides on a separate device regardless of the roster type.

Highly recommended: Change the class's Follow Code, which was generated automatically upon class creation, to something easier and shorter for students to remember and type. Students will need to either enter the Follow Code on a web page or scan its associated QR code.
Caution
Each time you change the Follow Code for your class, a new QR code will be generated and will need to be reprinted.
- Share the QR code and/or typable code with students. Both code formats display on the Class Level Overview page when you go to teach the class (provided you've selected Follow Along as your Display Method). Use the printer icon to print the codes for distribution, or have students come to you individually to scan the code from your device.

On any device with internet connection, students must either scan the QR code you provided or navigate to the URL student.imaginesonday.com, enter the class's Follow Code, and click Next.
Note
The Follow Code is not case-sensitive.

Students select their name.
Note
After selecting their name, if students have been assigned a reader, they'll have options to Follow A Lesson or Read A Book. They should select Follow A Lesson.

Whatever is in the teacher's Slide Controller now displays on each student's screen.
Note
If the connection gets disrupted, have the student click Exit in the top right corner of their window.
Then click Click Here to start over and re-enter the Follow Code.
If your students used the QR code to join the session, have them click Exit and use the QR code again to rejoin.
Using Follow Along as a teacher
To use Follow Along for yourself:

First, be sure you know your Follow Teacher Pin. This is the number you'll need to type in to access the teacher version of the Follow Along display. You can find or edit the pin in your teacher profile.
Note
The Follow Teacher Pin is the same for all of your classes in your license group, but if you are part of more than one license group, you'll have a different pin for each group.
- On a device separate from the one where you'll access the teacher content: either scan the QR code or navigate to the URL student.imaginesonday.com, enter the class's Follow Code, and click Next.
- Click For Teachers in the bottom right corner of your screen.

Enter your pin and click Next to begin displaying synced student content.
- When teaching a session, look for the Follow Controller bar at the bottom of the lesson plan page. The Follow Controller bar allows you to refresh or end the follow screen for the students via the blue buttons in the far right corner.

Slides on devices using Follow Along will be updated as you advance through the slides using the Slide Controller from your main device.
