Science of reading activities in a variety of linguistic areas are provided for each Sonday System 1 and 2 level as Warm Ups (to be done before a session) and Cool Downs (to be done after a session). These activities are designed to take only 1-2 minutes to complete; however, some Cool Downs may be extended to a longer time, as appropriate for your students. Choose either one Warm Up or one Cool Down activity to do each day.
The Science of Reading Warm Up activities that are available for a level can be found on the Class Level Overview page.
Cool Down activities can be found on Class Level Completed page after finishing all steps in a session. The number in parentheses in the corner of each activity tile indicates how many times you have taught a given activity.
Different types of activities as well as different versions of the same activities appear at each level, so that unique content can be presented at every teaching session. Choose only one activity per session.
As with a regular lesson, any content that needs to be read by the student(s) in a Science of Reading activity will appear in the Slide Controller and can be shared via your preferred student display method. The "End" slide will appear when all student-facing content has been displayed. Note that not every activity has a reading component.
When you have finished a Warm Up or Cool Down activity, click the "Click Here To End This Session" button to return to the Class Level Overview or Class Level Completed page.
Science of Reading activities are tracked separately from lessons, and the activity data can be seen in the Session History sections for a class after the activity is taught.
