 Note

This article applies to:

  • Sonday System 1 (SS1)
  • Sonday System 2 (SS2)
  • Sonday System Secondary 1

 Caution

Each class's Roster Type must be set to Students in order for individual student data to populate in the report. You can verify or change a class's Roster Type by editing the class.

In the Sonday System digital platform, several reports are available for teachers and administrators to view metrics on program usage and student performance. This article highlights the Placement report.

Data in this report is available from July 1st through yesterday of the current school year. Today's data is not included in the report.

Click on a tab to view how to access and interpret the Placement report based on your role.

    The default filters are:

    • Start date - End date: Defaults to the previous week that ended yesterday. Today's data cannot be included in the report. When you select a date range, the entire date range must be in the same school year (July 1st–June 30th).
    • Class: Defaults to All. All of your classes will be listed in the menu, but if the roster type for that class is not set to Students, then no data will be available.
    • Student: Defaults to All. All students will be listed in the menu, but if they are not associated with a class where the roster type is set to Students, then no data will be available.

The columns in the data portion of the report are as follows:

    Column Name Description
Student name A list of students presented alphabetically by first name. You can also view the student's session history, Mastery Check results, and a running record of all their assessments.
    Assessment

The name of the assessment the student was given. If the student has taken the same assessment more than once in the given timeframe, only the most recent attempt will be listed. If the student has taken more than one type of assessment in the report's timeframe, the most recent score from each type will display.

     Note

Only Pre-Reading Surveys and Placement Tests will appear in the Placement report. Information about the Pre- and Post-Tests will be available in the Growth report in an upcoming release.

    Scores & Recommendation

For Pre-Reading Surveys, you will see each student's:

    • Alphabet score (#correct/26)
    • Letter Recognition score: (# correct/26)
    • Phonological/Phonemic score: (# correct/100)
    • Printing score: (# correct/26)
    • Recommended level at which to begin instruction.
This is based on the Phonological/Phonemic score.
      • If the student scores below 75/100, use the Mastery Checks from Let's Play Learn to determine the appropriate starting point.
      • If the student scores between 75 and 85, begin instruction at Pre-Reading Level 1 of SS1.
      • If the student scores 86 or higher, administer the SS1 Pre-and Post-test to determine a starting point.

     Note

The Phonological/Phonemic score is a compilation of the Seek and Find Letters, Clapping Patterns, Whole Word Discrimination, Rhyme Recognition, Rhyme Generation, Segmenting Sentences Into Words, Syllable Blending, Syllable Segmentation, Combine Word Parts/Sounds, Phoneme Isolation, Phoneme Blending, Phoneme Segmentation, and Phoneme Deletion sections of the survey.

For Placements Tests, you'll see each student's:

    • Reading Score (# correct/# possible)
    • Spelling Score (# correct/# possible)
    • Recommended level at which to begin instruction.
This is calculated based on the student's spelling score.
      • They'll be recommended to start at Level 1 if they missed 4 or more items in the first section of the spelling test.
      • Otherwise, the placement recommendation is based off the highest section of the spelling test that the student passed. ("Passing" is defined as missing fewer than 4 words in a section.)
