The Single Screen view is one option for displaying student content for remote viewing in Essentials. It is most suitable for classroom setups where a single screen is used for both teaching and to display student content, or where a single screen is mirrored or duplicated onto a larger display.
Note
The Single Screen option is only available for Essentials products. It is not available in Sonday System 1 or Sonday System 2.
Selecting this option will maximize the student-facing content on the instructor's screen, minimizing the instructions to a bar at the top.
The features that are available in Single Screen view are:
- A drop-down view of the instructions for the current step.
- A drop-down view of the details for the class.
- The number of slides in the current step and which slide is currently displaying.
- A timer feature to count down the recommended time for the step.
- A PDF of the Printables for the current lesson.
To view the instructor content for the current lesson step, click the 'Instructions' button and the instructions will expand (note that they will be visible to students as well). Close the instructions again by clicking the X in the corner of the instructions box.
Click the 'Class Details' button to view the list of student in the class, mark students as absent, change the display method during the lesson, or end the lesson from any step. Close the Class Details by clicking the X in the corner of the details box.
Progress through the slides in the lesson using the arrows on the edges of the screen, the arrow keys on your keyboard, or a compatible clicker. If using the arrows on the edge of the screen, you will need to click the 'Next Step' button to progress from one step to the next. If using arrow keys or a clicker, you can advance to the next step just as you would advance to the next slide.
Note
The Single Screen view is only available in Essentials lessons, not in Science of Reading Warm Ups and Cool Downs. To display Science of Reading activities, use either the New Window or the Follow Along display method.
