Note
This article applies to the following digital programs:
- Sonday System 1 (SS1)
- Sonday System 2 (SS2)
- Sonday System Secondary 1
- Sonday System Essentials (EK–E5)
When you're teaching in a Sonday System digital product, you can record attendance during class and then go back and view student attendance records later.
The functionality is the same in all programs, but the user interface (UI) is slightly different in Secondary 1 compared to the other programs. Click the tab below for the program you're using.
To record student attendance:

All the students in the class are listed below the Slide Controller and the Display Methods. Each student's status defaults to Present; simply click the word Present to toggle a student’s status to Absent for the current session.
- Click the word Absent to change the status back to Present, if needed.
To view student attendance history for a particular student:
- From your Teaching Dashboard, select the Students tab.
- Click into a student tile.
- Look in the Recent Sessions section. If the student was present, no specific indicator is provided except for the time and date (in Central time) that the teacher ended the session. If the student was not present, the time and date the session was taught still displays, but the student is specifically marked as Absent.
To view class-level attendance information for a particular session:
- Navigate to the Class Detail page by clicking Details in a class tile on the Classes tab of your Teaching Dashboard.

In the Session History section, click the binoculars by the session you wish to view. Each student in the class is listed, and those who were not present are labeled Absent.

Administrators can view additional attendance data in the Classes report.
To record student attendance:
- While teaching a session, click Class Details at the top of the teacher instructions.

- Click Details by a student's name.
