Creating Reading Lists (Sonday System 1 & 2)

Each Sonday System Reader includes three stories aligned to a Sonday System level (Sonday System 1 Levels 6-36 and Sonday System 2 Levels 6-15). The digital Readers, when active with a Sonday System 1 or 2 account, can be used for reading practice during lessons or assigned to students to read independently on their own devices using the Follow Feature.

To create a custom reading list using the digital Sonday System Readers for Sonday System 1 or 2, navigate to the Readers tab on the Product Home. From here, you can click 'Details' to preview the content of any Reader. Click '+ Create' to establish a custom reading list.

You will be prompted to name your new reading list, and to select either the default list or a blank list to start with. The default list will automatically populate every level with the Reader aligned to that level, as well as a few Readers from previous levels for review. The blank list will be empty to begin with, and all levels will need to be populated.

In the reading list editor, you will see the Readers that are currently assigned to each level, including the titles of each story. Using the Follow Feature, students will have access to the Readers that are assigned at their class's current Sonday System level.

 Note

There are no Readers aligned to the first six levels of either Sonday System 1 or Sonday System 2, so the default reading list leaves these levels blank.

You can add new Readers to the level by clicking the '+ Add Reader' button. You can remove Readers from a level by clicking the red x next to the Reader in the list. And you can change the order in which the Readers will appear for a student using the blue up and down arrows.

 Note

The Readers aligned to Levels 6-10 in Sonday System 1 (e.g., Level 6a, 6b, and 6c) contain only one story each, while the Readers aligned to later levels contain three stories each, which cannot be separated.

Once you are satisfied with the list, you will need to assign it to a class or a student. The dropdown list of classes will note each class's current Sonday System level, because that is the level at which Readers will automatically become available to students. The student dropdown list will show what class each student is in. Select each class or student you want to assign the list to and click 'Assign.' You can assign a list to multiple classes and/or students.

Unassign a list from a class or student by clicking 'Remove' in the This List is Currently Assigned To section.

Once the lists are assigned, the relevant students will immediately be able to view the Readers for their class's current level via the Follow Feature.
