Let's Play Learn (LPL) is a structured, systematic program that provides multisensory practice and interactive opportunities for learning. It helps develop the foundational literacy skills that students in Preschool through Kindergarten levels will need later for reading and writing.
Based on Orton-Gillingham methodology, LPL covers the following skills and concepts:
- Pre-reading and pre-numeracy
- Shapes and colors
- Numbers and counting
- Letter formation
- Grapheme-phoneme connections
- Phonemic awareness (hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds)
- Phonological awareness (identify and manipulate units of language at the word level -- word parts, syllables, onsets, and rimes)
Use LPL for instruction and/or intervention. You can also use it with students who have cognitive impairments or who are significantly behind, regardless of their age.
The LPL Classroom Set is a physical kit/box that includes a printed instructor set and a manipulatives set. Included in the instructor set is a Learning Plan Book with 112 levels of instruction equivalent to 112 daily lesson plans. Each lesson has the following components:
- Warm-Up/Review (Whole Group Time)
- Introduce New Material (Teacher Workstation)
- Independent Practice (Student Workstation)
The digital component of LPL is a download code that grants access to songs, worksheets, and reference materials. Audio files are included to help students learn accurate pronunciation of phonemes (sounds) of the alphabet.
Each lesson plan is flexible, so the duration of the lessons may vary. A variety of short activities is suggested for each level, and you have the freedom to determine which and how many of the activities you'll facilitate each day.
Tip
We recommend you choose the activities based on your observation of student performance. You'll have data to analyze not only from the mastery checks that you'll administer every 10 levels, but also from your daily monitoring of how your students are doing in class.
