After a sound, blend, or concept has been taught in this step, the associated cards will be added to Step 1 - Read Sounds and Step 2 - Spell Sounds of this level in future sessions. New words will also be added to Step 4 - Spell Words.
Step 5 displays more content than can be taught in one session. Words incorporating sounds that haven't yet been introduced will appear in gray text. In the example shown, one new Sound Card is to be introduced at each session.
Click on the Sound Card you want to teach at this session. The chosen card and associated row of words will be highlighted in red for dictation. The next time you go through the lesson, they will be in black so you can see which items you have already taught.
Click the red forward arrow button in the Slide Controller to go through the slides, then follow the instructions for dictating words.
If time allows, you may teach multiple concepts within the same session by clicking the blue hand-pointer icon (the Pick Another tool) to select another Sound, Blend, or Sight Word Card.
If you want to undo a selection, make a new selection with the Pick Another tool, then click REDO and click the activity you wish to remove.
After you’ve gone through a level at least once, a small black number will display next to any sound that was taught in previous sessions with this student group. It will indicate how many times a given sound or word has been taught.
To easily skip all the slides for a section that has been taught, click the blue down arrows at the top of the next section to jump to that part of the lesson plan.
When the allotted time for this step is up, click 'Next Step' to move on to Step 6 - Read Aloud.
